Stream media assets to VLC on your desktop, without the need to mount a space via SMB.
Use this feature to play non-HTML5 video files that require codecs like ProRes. Otherwise, MP4 and other HTML5 supported codecs can be played directly from the browser by clicking on the 'Play' button that appears when hovering over the file thumbnail.
This feature is particularly useful when accessing files remotely over the Internet through a VPN. Enhance your review experience and save time by eliminating the need to transcode.
Typically, you would mount the space using SMB to play a file, which works well over a local network connection. However, playing files over SMB on the public Internet can introduce latency and cause performance issues with video playback. By utilizing our 'Play on desktop' feature, you can stream high data rate encoded video files over the public Internet without the need to create lower quality proxy files, as long as there is sufficient bandwidth between the remote creative.space server and your workstation.
